SEO Text Quality Analyzer
This analyser scans your text against four dimensions used by professional editors and SEO QA processes: over-optimisation (keyword spam), filler phrases ("water"), AI-writing signals (the patterns Google's Helpful Content Update penalises), and basic style issues. Output is a quality score 0-100 with specific phrase matches you can fix. Inspired by Ashmanov's Turgenev — but free, English-first, and AI-detection focused.
Turgenev is a paid Russian-focused service that detects keyword over-optimisation, filler phrases ("water"), and stylistic issues. We replicate the same four dimensions but add a fifth check that Turgenev does not — AI-writing detection using Wikipedia's "Signs of AI writing" catalogue. Our tool is free, client-side (no upload to server), English-first with Russian support, and includes the modern AI-tells dimension that became important after the 2024 Google Helpful Content Updates.
Water (filler phrases) are content-empty constructions like "it is important to note" or "in today's world" — they add words without information. AI tells are specific stylistic patterns that LLMs over-produce: significance inflation ("testament to"), copula avoidance ("stands as"), inflated symbolism ("transformative potential"), em-dash overuse, rule-of-three constructions. Water is a subset of AI tells but they overlap heavily.
Google's Helpful Content Update (2022, 2023, 2024) explicitly targets content that does not provide unique value. The patterns flagged here (filler phrases, AI-cliche phrases, promotional puff) are over-represented in mass-produced AI content that the HCU targets. Removing them does not guarantee ranking — but their presence correlates with HCU-affected sites.
Score = 100 - (Spam × 0.30 + Water × 0.25 + AI × 0.30 + Style × 0.15). Weights reflect SEO impact (AI tells and spam matter most for Helpful Content scoring, water matters for readability, style is the lightest factor for ranking). 80+ overall is good; 50-79 needs editing; below 50 needs rewrite.
Curated phrase lists exist for English and Russian. Adding German, French, Italian etc. requires linguistic curation of each language's filler phrases and AI tells. The analyzer can still process other languages for spam and basic style checks (long sentences, passive voice) but water and AI detection need language-specific dictionaries. We may add more languages based on demand.
