Open Graph Preview
When someone shares your page on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter, the social platform reads your Open Graph meta tags to build a preview card. This tool shows two live previews (Facebook/LinkedIn and Twitter) and generates the copy-paste meta tags below.
Open Graph is a protocol Facebook created in 2010 that's now used by LinkedIn, Twitter, Slack, Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp, iMessage and most other platforms when generating link previews. Without OG tags, social platforms guess and usually pick wrong (incorrect image, truncated title). OG meta tags give you control over how your link looks when shared.
1200x630 pixels is the safest size. It works for Facebook (which crops to 1200x630), LinkedIn (1200x627), and Twitter summary_large_image (1200x675 — image will crop slightly). Smaller than 600x315 may not display at all. Keep file size under 5MB.
Inside the section of your HTML, alongside title and meta description tags. On WordPress, your SEO plugin (Yoast, RankMath, SEOPress) typically generates OG tags automatically based on the post's featured image and metadata — you can override per-page from the SEO plugin's editor sidebar.
Facebook Sharing Debugger (developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/) — paste URL, see how Facebook renders it. LinkedIn Post Inspector (linkedin.com/post-inspector/) — same for LinkedIn. Twitter Card Validator was deprecated but you can still preview by composing a tweet draft with the URL.
